So glad we didn't miss this museum. My photos are of the replicas because you are not permitted to take photos of the real ones. The staff are outstanding, very welcoming, and very proud of the collection. Use the magnifying glass provided to see the exquisite detail. The staff will show you the detail in the black kimonos. Such a fascinating collection and a must see. Buy tickets online but note there are two museums with similar names! Thank you for a great experience.

A well curated museum that has a video running to share about the history and process of ukiyoe art making. Take your time to go through the exhibits. A magnifying glass is provided to help uncover the intricate details. Staff are helpful and especially in taking time to explain the process 正面 used in a particular art piece.

Amazing museum to visit, the staff is so nice and helpful, and they have lots of information on ukiyo-e art. They give you a magnifying glass and the staff also comes to show you details of the art. You can also watch a video, explaining the process and giving more info on the creation of ukiyo-e. They also have a shop with many goods to chose from, and they also sell original prints!

Very nice little museum. The staff can speak English and they are very friendly. It's not a very big museum, but they have many works on display. You will get to see Hokusai's original works here, including the famed The Great Wave off Kanagawa. I have visited many Ukiyoe museums and this is the first time I managed to see so many works by the Great Master. They pointed out some of the unique features of some of the works. 2 of the works uses a unique Burnishing technique to achieve a glossy texture. To make sure I was able to see it, the staff took the picture down and flip it around. Thank you. I enjoyed the museum alot. They also have some original works for sale.

Amazing museum! Such a valuable experience to see ORIGINAL works. The staff was very enthusiastic about the art and all the little details, they even gave us magnifying glasses to take a closer look. You will also get to see the ORIGINAL Great Wave and Mt. Fuji prints, and you can take pictures of the replicas that the museum created, using those original wood blocks from the 1830s. They close at 5, so make sure you get there with enough time to really view all ~50 originals!
